We all have that one dog that has a special place in our heart that it becomes our Heart Dog! Leilani, is that exact dog for me. She came into my life at a time when I was very sad. I had lost my first Heart Dog, Lexie suddenly in September 2017 and after a year of going into depression, a friend of mine tagged Leilani's photo from a rescue call Rescue Row on their Facebook page and I knew Leilani was going to be my dog. I adopted her a week later in July 2018 and she saved me and has brought me so much love and joy since then. It was like Lexie reincarnated in Leilani.
They look so similar, both are long hair chihuahuas. But Leilani is a bit more shy as she was rescued from a hoarding situation. However, Leilani has come out of her shell with all the love I have given her. They say you rescue a dog, but the reality is, the dog rescues you. This is what Leilani did.
She is now the face of the studio, the studio mascot. She is photographed the most of all my five rescued dogs. She is a beautiful, sweet, shy, now independent girl who showed me that I can heal from the loss of Lexie.
